Bighouse Lodge and Estate are located on the North coast of Scotland, bordered on three sides by the waters of the Halladale where they mingle with the sea.

Built in 1765 and a former home
of the Chief of the Clan Mackay,
the lodge offers all the warmth, comfort and charm expected of
a traditional Scottish Highland house.

Adjoining the Bighouse Lodge and Estate lies a superb walled garden which provides fresh herbs for the kitchen that contribute to the local cuisine.
Boasting a unique pavilion that extends to over an acre, the walled garden features a magnificent collection of steel sporting sculptures, each design inspired by the profusion of wildlife that abound the estate.
Ideally suited for receptions and special events, the walled garden provides the ultimate backdrop for significant occasions.
Built in 1765 and a former home of the Chieftains of the Bighouse and Sandwood Chieftains of the Clan Mackay, The Bighouse Lodge sits at the mouth of the River Halladale, a well known spate salmon river. Recently refurbished, the Lodge offers all the warmth, comfort and charm expected of a traditional Scottish Highland house.
The perfect environment for sporting, special events and family celebrations, the Bighouse Lodge and Estate provide the ideal setting for the whole family to enjoy. Leisure activities include excellent fishing, stalking and shooting, spectacular walking, pony trekking, nature safaris, falconry, surfing, guided tours, golf and garden tours, to name a few. First rate conferencing facilities are also available, and the estate is ideal for outside training exercises and events. There are also many visitor attractions, including the Castle of Mey, Orkney, John O’Groats and Smoo Cave.
